Our neighborhood streets are becoming increasingly dangerous.

Over the years, we’ve seen dramatic increases in traffic on our neighborhood streets. Whether that’s from navigation apps routing people to cut through neighborhoods, or companies using neighborhood streets for their logistics networks – even semi trucks.

And with that increase in traffic, we’ve seen an increase in fatalities and injuries in our communities.

In addition to increased vehicular traffic, we know that many neighborhoods lack basic access to public green space and amenities – and safe routes to neighborhood schools.

We believe that all neghborhoods in Chicago should have access to safe neighborhood streets and basic public amenities that promote thriving communities.

Our Community Blocks campaign focuses into the core of the issue. Through simple infrastructure changes we can:

  1. Stop dangerous through traffic in our neighborhoods from both corporations and individuals trying to save some time

  2. Create access to new amenities for communities that currently lack them

  3. Plan safe routes to school for children to get to neighborhood schools safely and independently
